The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald about the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby's obsessive pursuit of his former love, Daisy Buchanan, who is now married to the wealthy but brutish Tom Buchanan. Narrated by Nick Carraway, the story is set in the opulent and superficial Jazz Age of the 1920s and explores themes of wealth, class, and the corrupting nature of the American Dream. The affair between Gatsby and Daisy leads to a tragic climax involving a car accident and Gatsby's eventual murder. |
